Become a Business Director
Access Partners recruits skilled businessmen and women and positions them for a minimum of three years with church planting teams in the 10/40 window to form a team of experts both in business and ministry.
Legitimacy and sustainability are key goals for any of these overseas businesses. To reach these goals, a significant amount of time must be invested in the business. For church planting teams in the 10/40 window who need to engage in Business-as-Mission, balancing this workload with the ground breaking work they have to do is the challenge.
As we’ve considered the situation, we argue that the most strategic move for church planting teams at this point in time is to recruit business directors to their team.
A Business Director’s role is to help build a business that creates access for a church planting team through business. They lead the business and perform a small businessman’s spectrum of roles –from managing cash flow to making decisions on marketing–in order to make the business succeed.
This is not a new concept. Already there are Business Directors in the 10/40 window who provide significant support to their teams through their business jobs. They bring the wealth of their experience (often 20+ years) to bear on their mission-minded businesses. Their experience lends their entire team credibility as it makes sense to locals that such an individual would be involved in business in their country. They are both a catalyst and a collaborator to the team—providing leadership for the business while supporting the overarching goal of planting churches where it is the hardest.
